CHAMPION SUPPORTS THE SWEDISH BREAST CANCER ASSOCIATION’S PINK RIBBON CAMPAIGN 2011
Champion continues to support research for the fight against breast cancer.
Champion Northern Europe has signed an agreement with the Swedish Breast Cancer Association, BRO, for the 2011Pink Ribbon campaign. For this campaign Champion has designed and produced a new Pink Ribbon collection for the Swedish Breast Cancer Association’s campaign.
-Champion is again pleased to support this important research and give hope to those who are diagnosed with breast cancer, as well as their loved ones, says Ralph Mühlrad, Managing Director of Champion Northern Europe AB.
Every year approximately 7000 Swedish women are diagnosed with breast cancer and about 1500 Swedish women die as a result of breast cancer.
-Studies have shown that physical activity can reduce the risk of getting breast cancer and can reduce the risk of it reoccurring. Therefore, it feels meaningful and important for us to collaborate with a company in the sporting industry, explains Elizabeth Bergsten Nordström, President of the Swedish Breast Cancer Association.
Champion leads the market in Sweden for both sportswear and sport bras, and therefore it feels right that Champion is a part of the fight against breast cancer. Thereby, the sport bra is a central product in the Pink Ribbon Collection, as this product gives extra support to those women stricken by breast cancer.
Champion is giving exclusive rights to the largest Swedish sport chain Stadium on the specially designed Pink Ribbon products. Beyond that, the same products will be available through the largest mail order and e-commerce company namely Ellos, as well as at NK Department Store in Stockholm and in the tax-free shops at all the Viking Line luxury ships.
The companies will donate 20 percent of the retail price of the product to the Swedish Breast Cancer Association, BRO. The Pink Ribbon Campaign starts on October 1, 2011. Breast Health Day is on Saturday October 15, 2011.
-We are very thankful to be a part of this important operation again, and furthermore with a new and expanded specially designed collection. If our contribution can give hope to people who are diagnosed with breast cancer and their loved ones, we have succeeded, says Ralph Mühlrad, Managing Director of Champion Northern Europe AB.
-We are extremely glad about this initiative! Every Swedish krona that is collected plays a role for breast cancer research, says Elizabeth Bergsten Nordström President for the Swedish Breast Cancer Association, BRO.
